A lot of folks have wondered if Willliam would make it to the Super Bowl this year, especially with the Patriots seemingly having to rely on rookie Malcolm Mitchell and rookie safety Malcolm Butler to step up.
And while there are a lot of questions about the offense, it would be a huge blow for the defense.
The Patriots will need to be at least better than the 5-6 record they posted last season, and there will be a lot more questions than answers on how Willliam can contribute to the offense.
Willliam is one of the top offensive players in the NFL, and the offensive line is not doing a great job of protecting him.
He is averaging 6.7 yards per carry, and he has been sacked just five times all season.
But he also has been injured for a whopping 14 games, and his career total of 21 touchdowns ranks as the most in NFL history.
With the Patriots having just six touchdowns allowed this season, it’s not impossible that he could fall to 6-6 and still not make the playoffs.
The only way Willliam could be a factor in the playoffs is if the offense struggles as the season goes on.
He’s been an absolute disaster, and if the Patriots can’t win out this season it would severely affect the team’s chances of making the playoffs, especially in the AFC.
That being said, it is possible for Willliam to contribute to a Super Bowl if the offensive unit does not perform as well as expected.
If the offense doesn’t have an immediate impact, then it will be tough for the offense to go into the postseason.
William has played his best football since returning from injury in 2013, and this season he’s had a breakout year, leading the Patriots in yards and touchdowns.
He has rushed for 1,814 yards and 11 touchdowns on 173 carries.
The last time Willliam was injured, he rushed for 895 yards and six touchdowns.
If he is healthy, it will make the Patriots offense more dangerous and give him more chances to produce.
Williah has also become a big part of the offense since his return.
He averaged 6.2 yards per catch last season and led the Patriots with eight touchdown receptions.
This season, he has 11 catches for 137 yards and a touchdown on just 17 targets.
If Willliam gets the chance to play at the highest level this season and his ability to run routes out of the backfield is on par with the previous years, he could very well be the Patriots most valuable player.
The problem with Willliam being able to contribute this year is that the Patriots have to rely solely on Mitchell and Butler.
Both players have shown tremendous improvement in their abilities this season.
Mitchell has become a much better pass protector, while Butler has become more explosive.
The two have already racked up 1,937 yards and eight touchdowns this season as the team enters the postseason looking to close out the season on a high note.
The defense has had a tremendous year with a defense ranking No. 1 in points allowed and No. 3 in yards allowed.
They have a lot to prove this year.
They can’t afford to fall too far behind, and they will need Mitchell and the Patriots to play up to their potential if they want to make a run at the playoffs this season in a weak AFC.
The NFL has seen plenty of great defenses in the past, and it is certainly possible that Willliam and the rest of the Patriots defense can do a better job this season if the defense plays well.
It will be up to the rest the offense and the defense to be the difference maker in the Super 15.
