With the summer heat approaching, many residents in Florida are taking advantage of the state’s unique thermal efficiency rating (TER) to find out if their air conditioning system is up to the task.
The Florida Department of Health and Environmental Control (FDOH) says it has received over 100 complaints about air conditioning systems, including the use of improper thermal ratings and improper installation.
In response to the complaints, the FDOH is requiring people to verify their air conditioner’s accuracy by visiting their local utility, checking their temperature and the manufacturer’s warranty information.FDOH says that the state is still waiting for a report from a utility that has installed a new air conditioning unit.
In many cases, consumers can find out their system’s thermal rating online.
But it’s a tough sell to consumers who want to find their air conditioned system before they sign the contract.
If you want to avoid costly repairs and find out the correct ratings on your air conditioners, you can sign a new contract with a reputable company like Southern Pacific or GE.
